OUR BOARD

Otto Toivanen is a Fellow of the Centre for Competition Economics. He is a Professor of Economics at Aalto University. Otto specializes in industrial organization and economics of innovation. He has studied cartels, public procurement, firm’s entry decisions and R&D subsidies among other things. Otto has published his research in journals such as American Economic Journal: Microeconomics, RAND Journal of Economics, and Review of Economics and Statistics. He has received several large grants as a (co-)PI. Otto holds and has held many academic positions of trust as well as policy advisory positions, e.g. as a member of the Economic Advisory Group for Competition Policy and DG Competition.

Before his current position Otto was a professor at KU Leuven. He has been a visiting scholar at MIT, NBER and UC Berkeley.
